houseThe Foundation is very proud to announce it has completed its first home and resource centre for autism for young people wishing to live outside their parent’s home. This is the culmination of a 10 year dream and a great deal of fundraising. The homes will provide the knowledge for aging parents that their children with autism will be living happily and safely beyond their own lives.

The Foundation will continue the philosophy of integration these young people have known in the past. To that end, our first home and resource centre is comprised of 2 independent- 1 bedroom apartment units, 3 supported living units, a large great room, a respite care bedroom, a one bedroom live in house parents unit, as well as a sun therapy room. In the lower level are the offices for the Foundation, day program centre and a resource area for families as well as a library and meeting room. Outside on the grounds have been built raised garden beds to teach sustainability. We will expand on this in the future.

Over the past 10 years we raised $1.2 million to complete the construction of this project.

We are currently raising funds to support the operation of the home, resource centre and day programs by way of sponsorship of individual rooms. Permanent plaques will be place outside each room to recognize the sponsorship support of individuals or companies as well as recognition in the newspaper and on our website.

To date we have 2 sponsors for our rooms ranging from $30,000 each to $46,000 each.
